Unit 1 Checkpoint — Mini Introduction
No new words today. This lesson reviews everything from Lessons 01–10 and ends with you delivering your complete mini self-introduction from memory.
What you have learned in Unit 1
Your checkpoint today
Practise this 5 times before your teacher calls you. Each time, say it a little faster.
Warm-Up
Do this on paper before anything else — no looking at previous lessons.
Write from memory
- Write the numbers 1 to 10 in French — no peeking.
- Write the numbers 11 to 20 in French.
- Write all 8 colours you know in French.
- Write 4 classroom items with their correct article.
- Write your full mini introduction: Bonjour… Je m'appelle… J'ai… ans. Je suis… J'ai un/une… Au revoir !
Check your answers against the lesson pages only after you have finished writing.
Say it aloud
Read the mini introduction 3 times. Each time is a little faster and more natural.
Unit 1 — What You Know
Ten lessons, ten building blocks. Everything connects to the mini introduction in the centre.
Review Exercises
No new content today — these exercises check what you remember from Lessons 01–10.
Put the conversation in order
This is a full first-meeting conversation using vocabulary from Lessons 01, 05, 07 and 10. Drag each line into the right slot.
Quick Check — one question per lesson
Ten questions — one from each lesson in Unit 1.
L01. After saying your name, how do you ask for theirs?
L02. In bonjour, which two key sounds from Lesson 02 appear?
L03. Your teacher says Lève-toi. What do you do?
L04. Someone thanks you warmly. Which reply shows the most pleasure?
L05. You want to ask a teacher for water politely. What do you say?
L06. What is cinq + trois in French?
L07. Which sentence is correct?
L08. You describe a feminine noun as white. Which form is correct?
L09. Which sentence is correct?
L10. A girl wants to say she is happy. Which is correct?
Write your mini introduction — no word bank
Write each line of your self-introduction from memory. Use your own real name, age, feeling and a classroom item you have with you. There are no hints for this exercise.
1. Start the conversation.
2. Say your name. (Write only the first two words — the pattern — not a specific name.)
3. Say your age. (Write only the first word of the pattern.)
4. Say how you feel. (Write only the first two words of the pattern.)
5. End the conversation.
Teacher Interview — Get Ready
While your teacher speaks with another student, practise until you are called. Your teacher will ask you these questions — prepare your answers.
Questions your teacher will ask
Practice tip: say all five answers out loud in order, then mix them up. If you can answer in any order, you really know them.
Your answers — fill in and practise
For the last answer — pick up a classroom item, name it, then say its colour. Example: J'ai un stylo. C'est noir.
Game Time
Match the pairs — a mix of Unit 1 vocabulary from all 10 lessons. While you wait for your teacher, keep practising your introduction out loud.
